I went to the dentist this morning and did stairs to get in the car! Three! Ascending and descending! I was the steadiest I’ve ever been. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure it would have looked ugly to able-bodied people who aren’t comfortable around disability, but I am ecstatic I didn’t have a panic attack. I am unrulable.

Shush. It is too a word.

I even texted my BFF Pedro to let him know about my progress. I am so proud of me! I don’t mean to harass the guy, but I’m in limbo and want him (and me!) to know I’m not a slacker.

Speaking of. This picture of me running the 5k in Indianapolis one Memorial Day weekend showed up in my memories. I don’t know if I’ll run again, but maybe? My goal is to just be this confident again. Not the best runner obviously, just the best me.

Outpatient physical therapy has contacted me while writing this post, and I will have a consult a week from Monday.

w00t!

Back to the dental stuff. (Which I’m still fundraising for, btw.)

The temporary crown came off easily and the permanent crown only required a little shaping and was popped right in. The room I was in had a giant floor-to-ceiling window, and the U.S. Open was on the TV. There was even a sparrow hopping around in the rocks just outside the window.

This Friday the Thirteenth forgot how to Friday the Thirteenth.

For a hot second I even entertained the idea of attending a No Kings protest this weekend. But I know that’s not wise, and I will have to be a social media warrior on Bluesky instead.

I will be fitted for my custom AFO brace next Tuesday, and I have another dentist appointment for a new filling next Thursday. The wild thing is that it all feels totally manageable now. Before, managing a calendar this full would have felt impossible. I’d need weeks to worry about all the things that could go wrong in between each appointment.

I have me back for now. Broken as my body may be, I’m not ruled by anxiety 24/7.
